1. Use meal delivery service
Getting healthy homemade meals made every night as a busy mom to four young kids has always felt impossible.
So we switched to a meal delivery service and it has been game changing for our large family.
Have healthy meals delivered to your door, saving time on cooking every night.
In today’s fast-paced society, time is of the essence, especially when it comes to preparing meals.
Meal delivery services have become increasingly popular for those who want to save time on cooking every night while still enjoying healthy, homemade meals.
With a few clicks online, you can easily order a week’s worth of nourishing, delicious food that will be delivered straight to your door.
No more grocery shopping, meal planning or meal prepping required.
These time-saving services are not only convenient but also take the guesswork out of what to eat, making healthy eating way less stressful for busy moms.
My family switched to HomeChef 5 years ago and it was the best decision we have made for our large family of 6.
2. Hire an in-home chef
Sounds like a luxury, but can be just as affordable as take out. Dinner Elf has many affordable dinner options.
I do not like cooking, and have always told my husband having an in-home chef would be a dream come true as a busy mom to four young kids.
3. Switch to a grocery delivery service to save time as a mom
Stop Wasting Time in Your Car.
This hack alone will save you hours. Immediately switch to online grocery shopping for your food, household items and anything else you are comfortable buying online.
Streamline shopping from your couch. Schedule deliveries when it’s most convenient for your family.
The less you have to go in to the grocery store, especially with children in tow, the better.
Plus you are more likely not to forget anything on your shopping list.
Not only will it save you hours each week, studies found that it will save you money too!
I think every mom can agree that roaming Target or Costco is never good for the pocket book. Money seems to disappear so quickly in those stores.
If you don’t prefer paying for delivery, grocery pickup is another great way to save time and money with grocery shopping.
4. Hire a house cleaning services
Keeping your home clean and organized is no easy feat, especially when juggling little babies and toddlers as a busy mom.
Hiring a house cleaner saves you so much time and stress of maintaining a tidy home.
Imagine coming home to a spotless kitchen and neatly made beds after a long day as a working mom.
That’s the beauty of hiring a professional cleaning service. They’ll take care of everything from dusting and vacuuming to scrubbing bathrooms and washing floors.
With these time-saving services, you’ll have more free time to focus on the things that matter most to you – be it your work, family, or hobbies.
Spend less time vacuum cleaning and scrubbing bathrooms so you have more time for family.
5. Babysitting services
Find a sitter you trust to watch the kids while you enjoy a night out or tackle errands without little ones in tow.
With busy schedules and packed agendas, it’s no wonder that parents are finding it challenging to keep on top of everything.
When it comes to finding trustworthy and reliable help to care for their children, time-saving services like babysitting are becoming increasingly popular.
Whether you need help on short notice or for a recurring basis, babysitting services offer an invaluable lifeline for busy parents who run on tight schedules.
6. Virtual assistant services
Let Someone Else Carry Some of the Load.
Off load tasks like appointment scheduling, email management, and social media upkeep to a professional so you can focus on what really matters.
You might be surprised what a VA is capable of doing for you:
- Research and compile lists and reviews of daycares, schools, and summer camps.
- Plan family vacations and book them.
- Schedule doctor’s appointments, dentist’s appointments, hair appointments (ALL THE APPOINTMENTS).
- Purchase and send gifts to relatives.
- Set up your online family calendar and create reminders.
- Order library books.
- Pay bills.
7. Do more shopping online
Outfit Your Whole Family Without Leaving Your Home.
As a busy mom to four, I purposely switched to 80% of my shopping to online last year and I was shocked how much time and money we saved.
I got tired of going in to stores, wasting time with empty shelves and wrong sizes.
Try shopping for your families clothes more online and see how much time you save.
8. Laundry and dry cleaning services
Say goodbye to dragging baskets of clothes anywhere. Have fresh outfits professionally cleaned and returned in no time.
While I would love a laundry service, that is not a current solution for my busy large family.
So instead, I now use 7 genius laundry hacks to eliminate the piles of laundry.
These hacks have been game changing!

9. Outsource yard services to save-time as a mom
Save weekends by outsourcing your lawn mowing, weed removal and landscaping services to keep your yard looking sharp without DIY labor.
Also, hire a pool cleaning service to save time managing your pool if you have one.
Lastly, hire a dog walker to help exercise your pup while you are busy or out of town.
I’ve heard apps like Wag or Rover are good.
The following are not “services” but doing these will save you time as a busy mom
10. Learn & teach your kids the skill of Individual Play
Many moms either don’t know about this specific skill or haven’t tried it, but it is gaining traction and many moms are raving about the time they save!
What is Individual Play?
It is not a child choosing on their own to go and play quietly (while that is amazing!)
Individual Play is a learned skill where the child plays independently, without the interaction of an adult or another child, for a set period of time with specific non-technology toys.
Once a toddler or child learns this skill, parents have been able to get stretches of almost 2 hours of the child playing independently.
Think of how much things you can get done as a busy mom of young kids with that kind of uninterrupted time? And, it is an activity you can rely on and use often.
You can learn more about Individual play here > Benefits ofIndividual Play and How to Begin
I also teach how to implement Individual Play in my Genius Mom Hacks Workbook.
My workbook gives you all of the tools, tips, hacks and proven strategies to help overwhelmed and stressed moms eliminate the mom stress. PLUS give you pockets of time back in your day so you can enjoy motherhood even more.
11. Implement the OHIO productivity method
OHIO = only. handle. it. once.
I absolutely love this acronym & it is so powerful as a busy mom.
If it is something that can be done right now, do it.
I feel the mom mental load is only getting worse, and I feel a lot of this has to do with mental clutter. We are constantly pushing out doing a task for a “better time”.
I love what Jessica Meunier, Founder of Empowered Personal Finance says, “If you do need more dedicated time to get it done, set a reminder of when you will get to it, so it’s off your mind for now, and you can focus on what else is important.”
12. Meal & food prep
Are you tired of spending hours in the kitchen preparing meals?
Try batch cooking on the weekends or invest in a slow cooker, instant pot or pressure cooker.
One of the easiest things I’ve done is wash and chop all of my fruits and veggies for the week on Sunday.
I put all of the prepped veggies in microwave steam bags to save time on the week days cooking them.
I noticed it is easier to get a healthy meal on the table in minutes verses hours when I meal and food prep each week.
I love the mason jar salads. I now eat a healthy salad each day for lunch during the work week.

13. Don’t forget the machines
This past year I tried to run my robot vacuum daily. I was so surprised the impact this one daily habit has created.
Our floors are always picked up now and our home is generally more clean. I no longer use a push vacuum, which is more efficient with my time.
I try to look for ways to use technology to save time in my busy weeks.

14. Have a Sunday Reset Day
This is a routine that I wish my family started years ago. It saves me so much time in my week.
What is a Sunday Reset Day? A day in your week where you front load as many tasks as possible to set your week up for success.
Sunday afternoon, after we get home from church and lunch, we immediately transition to our Sunday Reset routine.
We will get laundry all situated for the week. With four young school age kids that means having all clothes picked out for the week and put away in their clothes hangers.
We will prep meals, fruit, veggies, snacks and lunches for the week. So we are set on what we are eating and will feel less stressed on what to eat for dinner for the entire week.
As a busy mom, this one routine eliminates the extra stress many moms feel leading in to Monday and the week.
15. Get the whole family involved to save time as a busy mom
Have you heard of the Pomodoro technique? I have deemed it “Race the Clock” with my kids.
This is a time management strategy where you can get more done in less time.
Use timers.
I will set a timer for 20 minutes, and the entire family, including my four kids, will all have assigned tasks. Then we race the clock to see how much we can all get done in 20 minutes.
You will be pleasantly surprised how much you can get done as a family with focused, un-interrupted time. Then we all spend some quality time together playing a game or going outside for something fun. Often ice cream is included!
Use a chore chart.
Daily chore charts are great ways to get your kids involved.
