1. Organized Stay-At-Home Mom’s Start With a Plan
Every experienced stay-at-home mom knows that organization is key to success and keeping your home life stress free. The first step to becoming an organized stay-at-home mom is to start with a plan.
A daily plan includes:
- Have daily routines that works for you and your family
- Plan your meals & food prep for the week
- Plan out your kids’ activities
- Schedule in some much-needed “me” time
Having a plan helps keep you on track and ensures you don’t forget important tasks.
2. To Be an Organized Stay-At-Home Mom you Need to Regularly Declutter Your Home
As a mom, it’s easy to accumulate a lot of stuff. To avoid the clutter from taking over, set aside some time each week to declutter.
Start by going through your kids’ toys and clothes, then move onto your own belongings. Designate a place for everything and make sure everything has a place.
Studies show that a clutter-free home makes it easier to clean and reduces stress.

3. Have a Command Center
A command center is a designated spot in your home where you can keep track of everything.
It’s where you can post your family’s calendar, grocery list, important phone numbers, and mail.
It’s a one-stop-shop for everything you need to stay organized. You can easily create a command center by using a chalkboard or dry-erase board, binder, or folder.
I feel most areas are in the kitchen near the miscellaneous drawer, that’s where we keep ours. I also recommend and suggest using your phone as a digital Command Center. More on that next.
4. SAHM’s Should Embrace and Use Technology
Technology can be a lifesaver for stay-at-home moms. It’s easy to forget appointments or deadlines, but with a digital calendar, it’s impossible to miss anything.
You can also use apps to help with meal planning and grocery shopping. Don’t forget about the power of lists.
Create lists for everything, from cleaning to shopping to tasks to do by the end of the day. It’ll help you stay on track and avoid forgetting important tasks.

5. Make Self-Care a Priority
Being a stay-at-home mom can be draining. It’s important to take care of yourself, too.
Set aside some time each day to do something for yourself, whether it’s reading a book, taking a relaxing bath, or doing yoga.
Taking care of your health and well-being ensures you’re ready to tackle whatever challenges come your way.
I do a lot of my self-care every day in the morning and evening times, because those are my kid-free times and I utilize my routines to make sure I am planning time for myself.

6. Organized Stay-At-Home Moms Have Schedules and Routines
Having a schedule gives you structure, which equals less chaos and more productivity. When you have a routine in place, you’re able to manage your time better, and you’re less likely to feel overwhelmed.
Trust me; when you have a system, it’s easier to stay on top of things. Plus, when you feel like you’re in control of your day, it’s hard to feel defeated by all the chaos.
Now, I’m not saying that your schedule has to be military-style, but having a general idea of how your day is going to go is an excellent way to ensure that everything gets done. Think about it.
No more scrambling around last minute to make dinner or rushing to finish everything that needs to be done before the day ends.

What do SAHM do all day?
Do you ever wonder what stay-at-home moms really do all day? You know, besides drinking wine and watching daytime TV?
Well, let me tell you, the life of a stay-at-home mom (or SAHM for short) is a lot more than just lounging around.
First things first: SAHMs never stop. There’s always something to do, whether it’s changing diapers, doing the laundry, or cooking meals.
And the thing is, it’s not like we can just do these things once and be done. No, these tasks are ongoing and require constant attention. It’s a never-ending cycle that requires stamina, patience, and a whole lot of caffeine.
Kids often think as a SAHM it’s our job to be their Activities Directors, so we also spend a lot of time playing with our kids. Which we all know playing with our kids is actually an important part of their development. Plus, it’s a great way to bond with them and create lasting memories.
Another big part of the SAHM life is running errands. While I used to spend hours in my car running around from store to store, I actually never go to stores anymore.
I’ve realized that going in to stores for all of my errands, takes up way to much time and I end up spending way too much money.
So I switched all of my shopping to online shopping and it’s just ONE of the ways I SAVE HOURS each week as a SAHM.

How to organize a messy house as a SAHM
I’ve found ways to manage my daily routines better and keep my household organized with these 3 simple organizing tips.
Tip 1: Scheduled cleaning times
Set aside a few minutes in the morning and afternoon dedicated solely to cleaning up. I call this “Race the clock” and you will be amazed how much cleaning you can get done in just 20 minutes.
Set a timer for 20 minutes, include your kids if possible, and focus on one area (family room, a bedroom, the kitchen) and start cleaning. This is a sprint clean, all hands on deck.
This is not a time to decide to declutter or organize. Quickly put things away as fast as you can and then move on to another area of the house once done. Stop once the timer goes off.

Tip 2: Delegate Tasks
Kids are capable of helping, even young toddlers as little as two years old. All of the cleaning and home responsibilities should not fall on your shoulders as the stay-at-home mom. You will surely burn out and grow resentment, or worst, start to hate being a mom.
If your budget and means allow it, hire and outsource the help!
Recognize your limits, and give yourself a break by outsourcing some tasks. A good way to engage them in clean-up responsibilities is to make it a game. Kids love challenges, and it’s an excellent way to teach them about ownership and responsibility.

Tip 3: Storage Solutions
Storing options include designated baskets, hangers, or even hiring a professional organizer to create a custom system for your household.
It’s important to have bins for different categories of items as well. Knowing where everything is stored can be a fantastic way to release stress and helps your kids with cleaning up and putting things away.

What do Stay-At-Home Moms Struggle With the Most?
It’s time for some real talk. Being a stay-at-home mom is one of the hardest jobs out there. And while we’re all doing our best, I think most moms struggle with these three things: lack of adult interaction / isolation, mom guilt and resentment. Let’s take a minute to acknowledge these struggles.
Lack of adult interaction / isolation
When you’re home with the little ones all day, every day, it can start to feel like you’re losing your mind. It’s not just the lack of conversation that gets to you – it’s the fact that you’re constantly in “mom mode”. You’re never really off the clock, and it starts to wear on you after a while.
Mom guilt
Mom guilt about whether you’re doing enough, guilt about whether you’re doing too much, guilt about not being the “perfect” mom. Constantly comparing yourself to every mom around you, and not to mention the constant comments and opinions from everyone! It’s enough to make you crazy.
Resentment
It’s normal to feel resentful when you give up so much for your family. Of course, you love your children and want the best for them, but why does it have to come at the cost of your dreams?
Why do you have to sacrifice your career goals just because you decided to start a family? These are all valid questions, and it’s okay to feel frustrated when you feel like your potential is wasted.

Stay-at-home mom tips for staying happy and healthy
Are you a stay-at-home mom feeling burnt out and tired of the same old routine? With the added stress’ of managing your household, it can be hard to take time for yourself.
From carving out ‘me-time’ to finding a hobby or side hustle, these tips will help you stay happy and healthy during a very draining season of young kids and being at home.
Doable Daily Exercise
First and for most, happy and healthy SAHM’s move their bodies daily in some form of exercise. This is so good for your mental and physical wellbeing, plus it gives you the needed and required energy to keep up with your always moving kiddos.

Get Enough Sleep
You can’t serve all day from an empty cup and your body needs sleep to function, especially as a SAHM.
If you have children who keep you up all night, consider researching sleep schedules so the whole family can get the much needed sleep everyone needs. (Your kids included!).
Having a designated bed time and wake time can also help assure you will get the needed rest you need as mom.
Find a Hobby or Side Hustle
Many moms struggle with losing their identify in motherhood and resentment. One way to combat that is to find your own outlet that drives you and fulfills you. For most moms, your children are not going to give you the “fulfillment” you are probably looking for.
I struggled with this a lot, and starting this blog and creating a business 100% resolved my need for wanting “more”! It was the best decision I ever made for myself as a SAHM.
Wake up before your kids
This is hands down one of the best mom hacks if you are looking to be a more productive mom and get more done in your day. It is amazing how much you can done in one hour before your kids wake up.
I’m a huge believer in an early start morning, especially as a SAHM with young kids.
Play music
I love playing music throughout the day. On a cool day, open the windows or slider, turn the music on and soak up all the feelings. These two things can really turn your day around and immediately have you feel happy.
Say no more
Being too busy and over-committed will lead to burnout and exhaustion. While the intentions are usually always in the right place, saying yes to more then you can handle ends up causing a lot more pain then good.
During seasons of young kids, sleepless nights and exhaustion, say no to things that will deplete you more then fill you.
Get out of the house once every day
Vitamin D is good for the soul. Even if you are just going for a quick walk around your neighborhood, or just watching the kids play in the backyard, get out of the house every day.
It’s magic how quickly your attitude and perspective on something can change just by going outside.
